Mobile Monday Detroit Explores the Many Ways Mobile Technology is Increasing the Safety of Individuals, Families and Businesses
Much has been discussed about the dangers of mobile technology when consumers use mobile devices for texting and other distracting activities while driving, but significantly less has been discussed about the safety benefits that mobile technology provides in a wide variety of environments. Even less is known – including inside the mobile technology industry – about the ever-increasing opportunities this repaidly evolving technology is providing to increase safety in ways you may not think about – YET.
To help southeast Michigan gain an understanding of the substantial capabilities mobile technology provides to increase personal, family and business safety, Mobile Monday Detroit will be focusing its September 12th meeting on ‘Safety-related Mobile Technology’.
Featured speaker for the evening will be Jeffrey Liedel, CIO for GM OnStar who will speak about GM’s efforts to increase consumer safety thru the use of its OnStar product line, including the recent launch of its’ aftermarket retail product, OnStar FMV, which enables almost anyone to enjoy the benefits of features such as automatic crash response, turn-by-turn navigation and hands-free calling. Liedel’s presentation will provide the opportunity to see the OnStar FMV unit first-hand and ask questions about its capabilities.
Also speaking at this event will be:
Craig Capece, President/CEO for MIST Innovations, Inc. who will be speaking on MIST Innovations efforts to increase safety with mobile technology via the firm’s flagship product, MISTonDemand, that provides business managers with visual real-time confirmation of their business operations. The benefits of providing video delivered to a smartphone or tablet device will be showcased with actual user case studies.
Jim Hankins, Founder/Developer of SafetyGrid and a Cisco Technical Operations Manager who will focus on the expansion of products in the mobile safety segment of the industry and the transformative drivers causing this expansion, such as: virtualization technologies, availability of wireless data services, advancements in assisted GPS technologies, improved battery life for mobile devices, new delivery models, rapid expansion of B2B web-based API, e-learning, and collaborative technologies.
